Sophisticated Sliders

I can honestly say I never really understood sliders. I always thought, if you wanted a burger...why not just eat 1 regular size burger instead of 3 tiny ones. While I was shopping for Super Bowl food supplies, I stumbled across slider buns, and thought "Hey, why not. Might as well try it.". I can honestly say, I get sliders now. They are fun to make! Yes, they're fun to eat too, but they're even more fun to make! They cook fast, and they look so cute all crowded together on a plate. If you've never made sliders...try it!

This recipe is a sophisticated take on your traditional slider, made with turkey and avocado. The saracha mayo gives the bite sized meal a kick of spice, and the brown sugar/soy sauce reduction balances the whole flavor with just a hint of sweetness. The reduction goes great with seafood too! I love to add it to pecan encrusted salmon or seared tuna steaks!

Cooking Instructions for Turkey and Goat Cheese Sliders

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, minced green onions, garlic powder, goat cheese, olive oil, egg, and pinch of salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly, until well blended. Form 2inch patties form mixture.

Cook patties in a large skillet on medium-high heat until heated through, about 8 minuets. These cook quickly so keep an eye on them.

Brush buns lightly with oil, and place in oven to brown on 375 degrees for about 5 minuets.

Cooking Instructions for Brown Sugar Soy Sauce Reduction

In a small skillet, heat the soy sauce, but do not boil. Slowly add the brown sugar and mix until dissolved. Add chili powder. If the mixture boils or becomes "frothy", add small amounts of water to return to a liquid state. Simmer over low heat until mixture reduces to syrup consistency.

Prep Instructions for Saracha Mayo

In a small bowl combine mayo and saracha sauce. Mix well.

Once the turkey patties have been cooked well, transfer to buns, top with saracha mayo, sliced avocado, and brown sugar/soy sauce reduction.

Serve with a tooth pick.
